Public Records (FOIL)

Learn how to request public records from Strive Charter School and review the categories of records maintained by the school.

Notice of Procedures for Requesting Public Records

Strive Charter School is subject to New York's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), Article 6 of the Public Officers Law. Anyone may ask to inspect or copy the school's records, except records that the law protects, such as student records.

How to Make a Request

Send a written request, by mail or email, describing the records you want in enough detail for staff to find them. You do not need to say why you want the records.

Please contact the Records Access Officer, Ariana Lopez, in advance to arrange an inspection or request copies of records.

What Happens Next

Within five business days, the school will make the records available, deny the request in writing with the reasons, or acknowledge the request and give a date, generally within 20 business days, by which it will respond.

If more than 20 business days after acknowledgment are needed to provide records, the school will explain the reason in writing and provide a specific reasonable date for its response.

Fees

Inspecting records is free. Paper copies up to 9 by 14 inches cost $0.25 per page; other copies cost the actual cost of reproduction. Electronic copies are free when there is no reproduction cost.

Appeals

If your request is denied in whole or in part, you may appeal in writing within 30 days to the Records Access Appeals Officer: Executive Director, Strive Charter School, at the address below. The school will respond within 10 business days.
